The Wedding Gift

From me:
Mom ~ what do you think I should get J & M for their wedding?

Reply from Mom:
I think a beautiful, engraved silver picture frame, for their wedding photo, is a lovely and lasting gift. I keep forgetting to tell you this idea. You have probably already sent something, though.

The toxicity of cell phones

Hi to all my dearest adult children -

I just finished listening to an hour of experts discussing recent findings on cellphone use and brain cancer. Data is in showing certain things:

- children are much more vulnerable to the problem and should not hold a cellphone to their head, at all.

- there are few 10 year studies to look at, but those that exist show a clear, greatly increased risk of brain cancer from long term, (>10 yrs.) frequent cellphone use.

- holding the phone directly to the head/ear is very bad

- devices like bluetooth, headset, speakerphone greatly reduce the risk and should be used

- cordless phones, in the house, office, etc. give off as much, and in some cases more, bad electromagnetic energy than cellphones. (I will be getting rid of ours'.) Land line phones with cords are safest.

- people should not carry cellphones in their pockets, against their bodies. Men who carry theirs' in their pants pocket have consistently lower sperm count than those who do not carry them in their pocket.

As you can imagine, I am greatly concerned about this. I hope you all will make some changes related to these findings.

FACEBOOK WARNING!!

Hi!

I know that you must be following all of the stuff about privacy and FACEBOOK. It sounds like it's a nightmare wading through the settings to ensure privacy in the areas you want it. And I know that you try to be very careful, but from everything I'm reading, there is no such thing as absolute privacy on FACEBOOK. Just want to caution you. People at work have been talking about the fact that they feel they were careful with their settings, their friends, etc. and info that they never intended to be seen by strangers is in fact being viewed by them. Just wanted to put it out there.

Love you

FROM ISRAEL, WITH LOVE

I EMAILED MY MOM: how are you? how is israel so far?

HER RESPONSE: We're all good. Touring is hard work, not like a golf resort vaca...but we're really enjoying it. How could we not, it's Israel: unbelievable!!!
Kisses...

FROM THE STREETS OF NYC

I just saw the actor who played Ed (the bowling alley show) and an actor who is always someone's sidekick...cool :-)

FROM ISRAEL, WITH LOVE

My sister-in-law has an affinity for poppy-seeded things. This is the email my mother sent to her from Israel:

OMG...all poppy seed pastries...amazing!!!

P.S. FROM ISRAEL, WITH LOVE

Shabbat Shalom. Quite an experience. Lots of dancing and singing. Very festive. All the sects were there: the black hats, klezmer, lubovitch, regulars, etc. Even a Rabbi with a cowboy hat from UT.
Kisses

BTW: FROM ISRAEL, WITH LOVE

FROM MY MOM:

btw,Rob Emmanuel is here for his son and nephew's bar mitzvahs. So 2 days in a row he screwed up our days...we had to reverse the tour of the tunnels near the wailng wall yesterday 'cause that was when and where the bar mitzvahs took place...and, today there was a traffic jam at the marketplace because of all the security surrounding him. Security, amazing!!! Young people, army and/or private security, waling around with rifles, bullet proof vests, hand grenades...lots of protection which I pray they won't need.

MY BROTHER'S RESPONSE: You mean Rahm?

FROM ISRAEL, WITH LOVE

A view of the old city (Jerusalem) from our hotel. It's been great. Lots of touring. Great food (middle eastern). Our guide was very informative, voo den ;-). Lots of different sects of Jews here, all with their own garb. Kind of like the sharks and the jets. The holocaust museum was difficult, just as it was intended to be...but such a very important institution to ensure that this never happens again.
The weather has been perfect. Not too hot, yet.
Tonight is Shabbat. Everything is closed already. Even the non-religious observe Shabbat. We went to a market place where there was soooooooo much tumult in getting ready for tonight's meal. It was a very festive atmosphere. We're going to the wailing wall to "say a little prayer for you.". It should be quite an experience.
That's it for now.
Kisses to all

MY BROTHER'S RESPONSE: What sect are you in?
